Guangzhou, chINA

This project is an luxury residential highrise located in Guanzhou, China, by the famous Chinese Developer Wanke.

With the theme of “green and sustainability“ as the starting point, and the understanding of the climatic environment of Guangzhou as the background, the project designed housing with natural ventilation to reduce energy consumption for cooling. We also introduced the concept of “ventical forest“, in forms of skygarden, green walls and roof gardens, turning the community into a “green lung” for 24-hour air purification. The green layers also serve as sound buffer, to block out undesirable noise from the city to increase livability of the community.

Futhermore, the design took full advantage of its scenery resources. Landscape, waterscape and feature gardens are introduced to the masterplan to maximize view axes towards the Baiyun mountains and the city, shaping a paradise-like living environment.

FACADE SCHEME  A ( CHOSEN SCHEME)

This facade scheme created horizontal and vertical tubes to allow the creepers to grow on the facade. The creeper grows besides the side of the balconies to provide privacy for the residents. The green facade will serve as the air purifier and it will cool down hot air in the tropical weather in Guangzhou. Besides, the green facade will creates an stunning look and the make the building stand out from surrounding buildings.

FACADE SCHEME OPTIONAL B

Since the clents questioned about the feasibility of letting the residents maintaining the creepers on the facade, we designed another scheme without the screepers growing on the facade. This facade scheme connects the balconies with alternative white and black band in order to highlight the horizontal elements on the highrise so that it will visually enlarge the felling of the continuous “U-shape” of the highrise. The vergreen skygarden adds the vertical elements into the design and the brown timber vista platform popping out from the facade creates visual focus. The two vertical side walls of the tower was designed into a green wall. It responses to the green skygarden and at the same time creates a stunning view when people walking along the street.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modelling the highrise according to the project manager’s design intention of  “highlighting the horizontal elements of the highrise.
  • Making inhouse rendering using vray and doing related photoshoping work to create five perspectives to show the clients.

SUNKEN COMMERICIAL PLAZA

The design of commercial plaza is a series of blocks staggering with each other, which reflects the typical urban street view of the City of Guangzhou.
